Cartridge Belt versus Bag or Shooting Jacket Pockets for Holding Shotgun Cartridges in the Field

Judging from the comments in the various shooting forums I was perusing today, in the UK cartridge belts seem more popular with pigeon shooters and waterfowlers than Guns on driven, rough and walked up shooting days.

Guns cite various reasons for not warming to cartridge belts including cartridge rims rubbing on the stock of their firearms, difficulty in getting cartridges in and out of the loops, they don’t hold a sufficient number of cartridges, difficulty in finding belts of sufficient girth especially when the Gun is wearing heavy winter clothing, difficulty in accessing cartridges at the sides and back and not being compatible with the UK Gun’s tweed and wellies look.
