Deer Stalking with Scottish Highland Ponies

An older video but still excellent in detail to show the stalking process used in the Scottish Highlands up until this day by many Estates.

The stalker is guided onto the hill by an experienced local ghillie who assists not only in finding deer but advising which animal should be harvested.

After the successful shot is taken, the deer is gralloched (gutted and bled), tied and then placed on a Highland Pony to be brought down to the Estate manor where it will be hung and later butchered.
