Scottish Highland Ponies

The time-honoured tradition of using Highland Ponies to retrieve harvested deer from the mountainous terrain of the Scottish Highlands is still maintained by many shooting estates.

Sometimes it is through necessity due to lack of roads and impassable terrain – even for today’s agile quad bikes.

Other times, it is the various estates wanting to hang on to the old shooting traditions that made Scotland famous as a world premier stalking destination.
