A family outing to Highclere Castle yesterday with visiting Australian friends.
The Earl and Duchess of Carnavon hosted a carol and prayer morning to raise funds for OXFAM’s ongoing efforts in Syria.
Highclere’s connection to the Middle East is more than Egypt.
The grounds are home to many splendid Lebanese Pines – the seedlings brought over from Lebanon for planting.
A cold, chilly and overcast day but the Carnavon’s welcome was warm and sincere. The many choirs that performed inside and out were a treat for one and all.
If you have not visited Highclere Castle AKA Downtown Abbey it is well worth it.
As well as the wonderful old family house, the Carnavon’s Egyptian Collection rivals that in the BM.
