Situated in the rolling Chiltern Hills, Carington Estate provides guests with the quintessential British driven shooting day and is suitable for both experienced and less experienced Guns.

8.30-8.45 a.m. Representatives from The Carington Estate will meet the Guns at Monkton Farm Shoot Lodge for coffee, light refreshments and introductory briefing
9.30 a.m. Depart for the first of the day’s drives
11.00 a.m. After the second drive the guns will stop for “Elevenses”.
11.30 a.m. Resume shooting
1.00 p.m. Lunch at Monkton Farm Shoot Lodge
2.30 p.m. Afternoon shooting – one or two drives
4.30 p.m. Shooting concludes and guns return to Monkton Farm Shoot Lodge for tea and cake before departing

The Handbook of Shooting

Thank you to Quiller Publishing for inviting British Country Sports to review the       BASC Handbook of Shooting – An introduction to the sporting shotgun 7th Edition. 


Let me start this review by saying I very much enjoyed this book for several reasons.

Firstly its content is right on the money for anyone getting into or involved in the sport of shooting. Secondly it is written in non-technical terms that the layperson can understand. And thirdly, its compact size and robust binding – it fits neatly into the vehicle glove box or shooting bag. Well done to BASC (The British Association for Shooting and Conservation) and all those who were part of its production. Continue reading
